Safety & Health Administrator assigned to the Hartford Region of CL&P: the Connecticut Light & Power Company, which includes the Hartford, Simsbury and Tolland Districts. Responsibility for worker and public safety and health efforts involving overhead and underground power transmission and distribution systems. Duties include fulfilling a consulting role to management, investigations, training programs, evaluation and coordination of personal protective equipment, OSHA compliance, worker’s compensation matters, on-site safety audits, and developing and assuring policies and procedures.

2004-2007


Safety and Human Resources Director for Connecticut’s largest electrical construction company with responsibility for OSHA, General, Life and Fire Safety, Workers Compensation, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Security and Investigations. Awarded a merit salary increase for outstanding performance following 6-months of employment. Completed the OSHA 500 and 530 classes at the OSHA Training Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. Certified as an OSHA Outreach Instructor, as well as an American Red Cross Instructor. Injury reduction rate of 39% due to Safety Program efforts. Successfully passed a March 2006 Federal Bureau of Investigation background investigation to permit access into the U.S. Navy Submarine Base at New London. Semac was awarded a top sub-contractor “Safety Award” in recognition of their zero accident rate for 2006 on Gilbane Construction project sites. The Semac MOD rate dropped from .99 to .92 to .89 from 2004 to 2007.

Fulfilled a profitable sole proprietor Security and Safety Consulting role either independently or on a contract basis with a variety of security, consulting, legal and investigative firms on a national scale. Providing a wide range of proactive services to business, industry and government from Hawaii to Bermuda. Provided expert litigation support in approximately 300 civil cases for both the defense and plaintiff at both the State and Federal Court levels. Daubert certified at both the Sate and Federal Court levels for numerous cases.

1980-1990


Vice President and Director of Security over all internal and external Security and Safety matters of a $6 billion corporation. Promoted from Assistant Vice President in l986. Reported directly to the Vice Chairman. Scope of duties included the integral design, development and management of protective services for an organization of 110 facilities, 4,300 employees, 2 million customers, a staff of 55 armed security employees and an annual budget of about $1.4 million. This diplomatic program was developed where none previously existed to complement the total business plan by preventing problems, effectively resolving those that did occur and by recovering significant amounts of lost assets. Proven record of excellence and dependability.

Reduction in losses by 62% between 1980 and 1990 despite corporate asset growth from $2.5 to $6.0 billion. Commended for "Overall Superior Performance" for improvements. Efficiency of the Security Program resulted in few injuries and no litigation from literally thousands of incidents during this period due to training programs, application of security controls, equipment and personnel, a positive criminal justice system liaison and efficient investigative function. Outstanding record of attaining stated goals and objectives.

Projects in addition to the traditional security role included computer security planning, funds transfer security system design and a 7-state member bank security compliance audit program.

Urban Police Officer in the cities of Detroit and Kansas City, Missouri. Assignments were divided approximately 60% operational and 40% administrative to include a special two-year assignment as a Research Analyst to a Ford/Police Foundation Research Grant project which studied the homicide problem in America.
