The ATM - It's Where the Money Is and Liability May Be.
Premise security issues may arise in any of a wide range of environments. Please see the Litigation Support and Testimonials site for related information.
However, as Mr. Kennish's area of specialty is banking, and ATM security measures, the ATM location will be used here as an example. For an expanded discussion on ATM security measures, please see Guarding Against Premises Security Claims.
When Willy Sutton, the notorious bank robber, was asked "Why do you rob banks?" he reportedly responded without hesitation, that is was "Cause that's where the money is!" This was true then, and continues to be true today. However, with advances in technology, the nature of just where the money is, has changed significantly.
In his day, the robber had to assault the bank's security features in the traditional bank robbery format. Today, and as result of modern banking services, we often make the customer the target, instead of the bank itself.
The automated teller machine, or ATM, is now a common innovation in the world of banking. For the customer in today's busy world, they represent convenient 24 hour access, and ease. For the bank, they represent scales of efficiency, and savings.
However, and as the majority of ATM customer transactions involve the withdrawal of cash, with these positive aspects has also come new opportunity for the criminal. Substantial cash withdrawals may now be made late at night, at secluded locations, instead of in the traditional busy bank lobby during normal business hours. As a result, ATM operations represent a variety of new inherent risks, among which is the threat of attack against the customers who use these machines. With this new threat area, comes new expectations on the part of ATM customers for their protection, and new security responsibilities on the part of the bank to assure reasonable, and corresponding levels of customer safety.
Regarding the ATM customer attack threat, or to better manage risk in any of a wide range of actual, or potentially dangerous environments, John Kennish can provide consulting services in two forms. The first relates to proactive efforts to keep any environment, and operations safe. Included here can be the risk survey to measure the degree of peril, in combination with the development of effective administrative controls, facility design, security equipment and personnel applications.
Or, as it is your choice, his reactive role is found in his litigation support services as a consultant, and expert to the legal community where he represents both the defense, and plaintiff on such matters after-the-fact, on tragic situations that often likely could have been avoided.
In either context, Mr. Kennish can apply extraordinary conventional, and non-conventional methods which allows him to be very effective, and efficient in his role, and productive regarding your business objectives. This is what sets him apart from other security experts.
